Head of School
Netra Fitzgerald serves as Head of School at Saint Michael Episcopal School (SMES), Dallas, Texas. Her commitment to excellence in early childhood experiences through curriculum development, social & emotional learning skills integration, and balance of direct learning & play is essential to her educational philosophy. Her devotion to early childhood positioned her to be selected and participate in the highly regarded Project Zero Summer Institute at Harvard University where she took a deep dive into learning and intelligence.
Netra’s dedication to children’s spiritual and intellectual growth is reflected in her leadership by ensuring a nurturing, individualized, inclusive early childhood experience for each child grounded in the four pillars of Love, Education, Faith and Service.
Prior to her position at SMES, Netra served as Head of Preschool at Greenhill School, Addison, Texas. During her twenty-plus years in education, Netra has taught and served at four independent schools across the country, teaching kindergarten, first grade, directing summer school programs, and serving as interim Assistant Head of school in Albuquerque, New Mexico prior to moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in 2014. Netra and her husband Ty have two adult children, Kelsey (RN at Children’sHealth) and Kyle (Medical School student at NYITCOM).
