Music

Toddlers and Twos:

Little ones will have lots of fun shaking, singing, and learning in music class. They will be introduced to percussion instruments, guitar, ukulele as well as traditional, classical, spiritual, and original children’s songs. We explore many different types of tonality, meter and rhythms, and develop critical linguistic pathways through nursery rhymes, chants, simple songs, and play. While they are having fun learning and moving, they will also experience the joy of making music for the Lord. Our music classes offer opportunities for productive brain stimulation, developing fine and gross motor skills, enhancing vocabulary and language skills, and improving social and memory skills.

Preschool and Kindergarten:

SMES preschool and kindergarten music classes are designed to help children learn and grow in their musical knowledge as well as enhance their cognitive, social-emotional and motor skills, all while fostering self-confidence. While children move and sing, we create new verses to known songs, develop a healthy singing technique, and we improvise artful instrumental accompaniments. Our preschool and kindergarten music classes allow exposure to different styles, meters and tonalities of music and the discovery of musical concepts through organic exploration. Our children feel the joy of singing to the Lord, prepare for and participate in school-wide performances and gain a love and innate understanding of music that will last for years to come.
